Admissions
It is our intention to make our setting genuinely accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community. In order to accomplish this, we will:
- Ensure that the existence of the setting is widely known in all local communities. We will place notices advertising the setting in places where all sections of the community can see them, in more than one language if appropriate.
- Keep a place vacant, if this is financially viable, in order to accommodate emergency admissions.
- Describe the setting and its practices in terms which make it clear that it welcomes both fathers and mothers, other relations and other carers, including childminders, and people from all cultural, ethnic, religious and social groups, with and without disabilities.
- Monitor the gender and ethnic background of children joining the group to ensure that no accidental discrimination is taking place.
- Make our equal opportunities policy widely known.
Admission into setting is by waiting list or sibling admittance. A child will be admitted as listed. Parents will be notified if a place is not available for their child in good time. All names on the list are not guaranteed a place. It is dependent on how many children move away, are taken into school and how many spaces are required as extra sessions for children already attending the group.
Attendance
We will be flexible about attendance patterns so as to accommodate the needs of individual children and families; however, as part of the terms and conditions for receiving Nursery Education grant from Wokingham Borough Council, we require an explanation of an absence from the group for any session funded by Early Education Funding. This may be by phone call, text or email. If absences are unexplained this may jeopardize payment of the funded place.
Notification of Withdrawal
Should you wish to withdraw your child from the setting, a half-term’s notice is required in writing, in order that we can fill your child’s place. If the setting staff decide attendance at the setting is to the detriment of the child or group, parents may be requested to withdraw the child. This decision is taken after discussion with parents.
In the event of a child not collected at the end of a session
If a child is not collected from us at the end of the session, two members of staff will remain with the child. If the parents or emergency contact cannot be reached after an agreed amount of time (approximately 1 hour is the guideline), staff will telephone the Duty Social Worker at Community Services Department during office hours on either:-
Wokingham 0118 9789656
Woodley 0118 9448040
Earley 01189752324
After 5pm the emergency Duty Team telephone number is 01344 355273
