In the event of a critical incident occurring, the setting will join with the current policies and procedures of the Infant School. This involves the use of a red card system. If a red key card is received from the Infant School then this will trigger the following procedure.
The supervisor tell the playgroup to stop what they are doing.
Staff and children will immediately stop and listen.
A command to crawl under the tables will be given.
While some staff helps children to hide, one staff member will lock outside doors and one will close windows and blinds.
Children and staff remain quiet until given a signal that the incident is finished.
In the circumstance that the playgroup is the first to notice the incident unfolding, a red card will be handed to the next classroom and the previous procedure commenced.
